Francisco, born in 1956, is a self-taught artist in the mediums of oil painting, pencil drawing, wood and marble sculpture. Francisco is an advocate of realism and believes in putting the human experience and the human scale at the center of his artistic concerns. |

September 18, 1990 "...I admire your skills..."
October 4, 1990 "...I am glad to have evidence that great art does not need the NEA..."
|
Francisco has been compared to, and influenced by the great Master of the Rennaissance, Michelangelo, and to the marble sculpture from the Master of the Baroque, Gian Lorenzo Bernini. |
May 8, 1991 "...I appreciate having the chance to become better acquainted with your work..."
May 4, 1990 "...I find Pas de Deux quite intriguing..."
Francisco has the unique ability to carve the marble as only Michelangelo did. Either the surfaces are complete and finished, ready for the final polishing, or they are hidden by the raw bulk of the blocked-in marble. Francisco's talent allows the sculpture to simply "emerge" from the block, a skill unequaled in our time period. |

June 3, 1991 "...Your work is most interesting..."
|
The same techniques are also used in his oil paintings and pencil drawings, producing exquisite realism. Pas de Deux is only Francisco's second marble sculpture and his sixth overall. His talents can be found in art collections all over the world. His specialities include custom designs and commissions that allow for a variety of mediums combining the realism of the human experience. |
