American Woman

The marble is hoisted onto a flatbed trailer at the Colorado Yule Mine.	A jubilant Francisco on top of 21 tons of marble.
The first chip is the hardest to cut
March 2001 - Francisco has already removed about 7 tons of marble to get at the point where the face of American Woman is to appear.
"Sometimes I get the chills" says Francisco, "when I see her looking back at me. I'll see her out of the corner of my eye watching everything I do."	June 2, 2001
American Woman's face will undergo many evolutions as she awakens from the block, until the artist discovers her finished espression. July 22, 2001
